Metal Fabrication

Precision Cutting, Forming & Welding. Under One Roof.

FKI USA’s in-house fabrication shop extends your program beyond the press. From high-speed fiber laser cutting and heavy-gauge press brake forming to expert MIG/TIG welding and surface treatment, we handle the full fabrication sequence — without outsourcing a single step.

Flexible Fabrication Paths

Built Around Your Program

Whether fabrication is a downstream step from your stamped components or a standalone manufacturing requirement, our shop is configured to support both.

Integrated
Manufacturing

For OEMs & Program Managers.

Fabrication as a downstream step from stamped blanks. Laser-cut, formed, and welded components feed directly into your assemblies — no handoffs, no coordination overhead, one program manager.

Standalone
Fabrication

For Buyers & Engineers sourcing capacity.

Don’t need stamping? We take standalone fabrication programs. Bring your drawings — laser cutting, forming, and welding as a complete service from a single supplier.

Bridge Production
& Prototyping

For Plant Managers moving fast.

Our fiber laser eliminates hard tooling for prototype and bridge runs. Cut your first parts within days, at production-quality tolerances, before committing to dies.

One Shop. Every Step of the Sequence.

Most fabrication suppliers handle one piece of the process — they cut, or they weld, or they form. When you need all three, you’re coordinating vendors, managing lead times, and absorbing every handoff as a risk. FKI USA eliminates that entirely.

Our 104,000 sq. ft. Carrollton, TX facility houses laser cutting, press brake forming, welding cells, and grinding under one roof. Your component moves through the sequence without leaving the building.

No Vendor Handoffs

Cutting, forming, welding, and surface treatment in a single facility.

12kW Fiber Laser

Beds up to 78.7″ × 157.5″ for large-format cutting without outsourcing.

Fabrication Capabilities

At-A-Glance

High-Speed Fiber Laser Cutting

Intricate Geometry, Production Volume, No Hard Tooling

Our 6kW and 12kW fiber lasers — with cutting beds up to 78.7″ × 157.5″ (OREE 12,000W) and 59″ × 118″ (Gweike 6,000W) — handle material ranges and part complexities that most fabricators can’t support in-house.

Fiber laser cutting allows us to produce prototype quantities and bridge production runs without the lead time or cost of hard tooling. Once your program scales, the same equipment runs production volumes at consistent edge quality. Mild steel, stainless, aluminum, and non-ferrous metals across a broad thickness range.

Heavy-Gauge Press Brake Forming

440 Tons of Forming Force, Standard Shops Walk Away

Our Collie 440-ton press brake — with a 218″ × 12″ bed — is not a standard fabrication shop asset. It delivers the forming force required for thick-plate structural work and large-scale components that lighter-duty brakes can’t handle.

We bend heavy-gauge mild steel, stainless, and aluminum plate to tight angular tolerances. If your program involves structural brackets, frames, chassis components, or enclosures in material that requires real tonnage, this is where we work.

MIG / TIG Welding & Robotic Cells

Precision Manual Work, Automated Production Throughput

We don’t force every weld through the same process. Complex geometry and structural integrity requirements go to our certified Miller TIG welders. High-volume, repeatable production welds run through our two Motoman 1400 DX100 robotic welding cells.

Manual MIG is available via Miller CP300 for general fabrication. The combination means we can support early-stage prototypes and full production volumes on the same program — without swapping suppliers.

Precision Surface & Form Grinding

Micron-Level Accuracy, Class-A Surface Quality

Our grinding department supports programs where edge quality, flatness, and surface finish are dimensional requirements — not cosmetic preferences. Our Tool & Die makers use Brown & Sharpe, Kent, Acer, and Blanchard grinders to hold tolerances as tight as 0.0001 inches.

Whether you need Class A cosmetic flatness on a visible panel or critical micro-form tolerances on a functional component, we validate every dimension before the part leaves the floor.

The FKI "Manufacturing Trifecta"

A Vertically Integrated Solution
Manufacturing Capabilities

High-Capacity Stamping & Fabrication

Our core competency is high-volume, automated stamping. Our fleet includes presses up to 600 tons with massive 132-inch beds and 20,000 lb coil lines to handle heavy-gauge materials (up to 0.250″ thick). This is supported by a full fabrication shop, giving us the power to produce any component for your assembly.

In-House Tool & Die Manufacturing

Our 18,000 sq. ft. in-house toolroom is your insurance against downtime. We are not reliant on third-party tool shops. We design, build, and maintain 100% of our production tooling. Our “Closed-Loop Die Repair” process means a line-down crisis can be solved in 24 hours, not weeks.

Advanced Metrology & Quality

We prove our precision with data. Our advanced metrology lab is the heart of our US-based quality control, featuring a 96-inch Zeiss CMM for automated inspection and a 7-axis Hexagon Arm for rapid troubleshooting. This lab provides the data for your most demanding PPAP Level 1-5 submissions, FAI reports, and Cpk studies.

Verified by Data, Not Just Experience.

We don't quote Tolerances We Can't Measure, Every Fabricated Component is Dimensionally Validated Before it Ships

Our metrology lab — featuring a 96-inch Zeiss CMM and Hexagon 7-Axis Blue Laser Arm — backs every program with FAI, Cpk studies, and PPAP submissions from the same Texas facility running your parts.

Industries We Serve

We carry the certifications that allow you to sell into regulated markets. Our quality lab features Zeiss CMMs for certification and Hexagon Portable Arms for reverse engineering.

Frequently Asked Questions

Find quick answers to common questions about our fabrication capabilities and processes.

What materials can your fiber lasers cut?

Our fiber lasers cut mild steel, stainless steel, aluminum, and most non-ferrous metals across a broad thickness range. Contact our engineering team with your material spec and gauge — we’ll confirm feasibility and recommend cut parameters.

What is the maximum sheet size you can laser cut?

Our largest laser — the OREE 12kW — handles sheets up to 78.7″ × 157.5″ (approximately 2m × 4m). The Gweike 6kW supports sheets up to 59″ × 118″ (approximately 1.5m × 3m).

Can you handle prototype quantities before we commit to tooling?

Yes. Fiber laser cutting is specifically suited for this. We can run prototype and bridge production quantities without hard tooling, at tolerances consistent with production requirements. When you’re ready to scale, the same shop handles it.

Do you provide welding documentation or weld procedure specifications?

Our welding team can support weld procedure documentation. For programs with specific code requirements or AWS standards, contact us with your spec upfront so we can confirm scope before quoting.

Can fabrication work be combined with stamping and assembly at FKI?

Yes — that’s the core advantage. Fabricated components feed directly into stamped assemblies or kitted builds in the same facility. No vendor coordination, no handoffs, one point of accountability.

Can you take on fabrication programs with existing drawings from another supplier?

Yes. We regularly adopt programs from other fabricators. If your drawings are current and dimensioned, we quote directly from them. If there are legacy files without full documentation, our engineering team can review and advise.
